Allina Commons is the Minneapolis-based headquarters of Allina Hospitals & Clinics, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Allina's Abbott Northwestern Hospital, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.
Responsibilities
To work collaboratively with the CV health care providers to assure documentation accurately reflects the severity of the patient population and optimal reimbursement
Analyze clinical information to identify areas within the chart for potential opportunities for improvement in physician documentation / qualified health care providers both concurrently and retrospectively, so that Allina may ensure a compliant bill.
Work collaboratively with clinical and ancillary departments to create, improve and monitor processes that enhance quality and productivity for the department and Allina system wide.
Maintains Excellian work queues.
Formulate credible queries and analyze already constructed queries to improve clinical documentation of principle diagnosis, co- morbidities, and procedures, present on admission and quality core measures while adhering to regulated guidelines
Facilitate modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with physicians and other qualified health care providers
Develop and implement plans for education of physicians / qualified health care providers on documentation improvement through multiple venues
Analyze coding abstract to verify that documentation within the record is accurately reflected through ICD-9/CPT/HCPCS codes while adhering to national coding guidelines.
Develop and implement clinical education for coding staff to facilitate increased clinical knowledge base.
**Position will travel to Mercy, Unity, Abbott Northwestern and United Hospitals.**
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Current MN RN license
- Clinic experience in a hospital setting as well as clinical documentation experience preferred
- 3-5 years of acute experience preferred
- Able to work collaboratively with a variety of physicians and other healthcare providers
