Minnesota Masonic Home North Ridge has a rich history of providing quality care to seniors since 1966. We are a specialized senior health care community. Our continuum of care offers a variety of services: Senior Apartments, Assisted Living, Adult Day Program, Complex/Transitional Rehab Care, Long Term Care and secured areas for those with memory impairment. Our emphasis at MMH North Ridge is to recognize and provide for the needs of each individual, whether the goal is to remain in our community or to return home. The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of our TR program which meets the physical, mental, psycho-social and spiritual needs of our residents. This position is working in our Apartments and Assisted Living areas.


Major job functions of the Recreation Coordinator include: Planning and implementing activity programs with consideration for life enrichment and safety; encouraging residents to continue active lifestyles, participate in community activities and pursue hobbies and leisure time activities; coordinates outings; utilize community resources for programs and entertainment; maintaining and distributing a master calendar and newsletter; recruiting residents; attending meetings as scheduled; meeting with new residents; scheduling activity rooms; working with volunteers, etc.


The successful candidate should have a 2 or 4 year degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Leadership, or a related degree. Experience will also be considered for qualification. Individuals must have a special interest in working with geriatric residents. In addition, the individual must assume responsibility for learning and following therapeutic recreational techniques and documentation procedures. Position requires the ability to generate enthusiasm during programs and be willing to participate in special events. Excellent communication skills are needed. The ability to follow oral and written directions is needed as well. Candidates must be able to work well independently and be self-motivated. Must be able to organize time and be detail oriented. This position is full time working Monday-Friday (flexible hours) and occasional weekend hours. This is a total of 75 hours per pay period.
