Position Purpose:
HealthPartners is currently looking to add a near to new ASA to our Actuarial Team as a Senior Analyst or Associate Actuary. This individual will be responsible for providing analysis, developing pricing analysis, and projection models for a variety of health care markets, products, and provider reimbursement strategies. Independent analysis is often required.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a team of professionals and strategic thinkers. Unlike many health plans, our Actuarial Team makes limited use of external consultants, preferring to employ a skilled, creative team in-house. Team members work collaboratively on projects across a variety of areas. We provide strong support to staff pursing professional designation through the SOA exam program.

Accountabilities:
• Research and analyze data, including identification of areas requiring further analysis. Present results of analyses and studies including highlighting of key points.
• Develops actuarial models for pricing, trend analyses, etc.
• Conducts actuarial studies and develops recommended actions.
• Develops regulatory filings.
• Participates in the design and implementation of new products.
• Provides actuarial analysis to various departments within the organization.
• Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish departmental goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
• New ASA/Associate in the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
• Two and a half years of relevant health plan or health insurance actuarial experience; or equivalent education or experience.
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Access.
• Ability to identify and organize key information for effective presentation of complex issues to a non-technical audience
• Ability to interact effectively with other departments

Preferred Qualifications:
• SQL and SAS proficiency
