The University of St. Thomas, Opus College of Business (OCB), is accepting applications for a Behavioral Research Center Supervisor.
This position is responsible for the administrative management of the Behavioral Research Center by creating and managing a schedule for faculty research being conducted in the OCB's Behavioral Research Center (BRC); making executive decisions regarding research activity when faculty researchers are unavailable; coordinating with the BRC faculty supervisor to identify equipment purchase, repair, and maintenance needs; serving as primary contact point with technology and facilities staff for routine maintenance and repair issues; hiring and supervising student workers to staff the BRC; creating and managing student worker schedules; serving as on-site student supervisor by providing specific work direction; coordinating the MKTG 300 research pool under marketing faculty direction; distributing instructions and updates to MKTG 300 instructors and students throughout each semester; managing alternative research credit opportunities for MKTG 300 students; creating and maintaining opt-in research participation list(s) for volunteers who are not enrolled in MKTG 300; recruiting and supervising recruitment of additional research participants as necessary.
Additional responsibilities include: contributing to the scholarly research productivity of the Opus College of Business in a variety of ways by collaborating directly with existing faculty on topics of mutual interest; serving as an intellectual resource in his/her area of topical and methodological expertise; attending and contributing to relevant faculty research seminars (primarily in Marketing but possibly also in Management and other OCB departments); participating in independent research projects or projects with collaborators outside the OCB and/or UST, with all research output stemming from work done at UST bearing UST's institutional affiliation.
Qualified candidates will have an equivalent to a Master's degree in psychology or related field and five years of behavioral research experience. A completed doctoral (Ph.D.) degree or sufficient progress toward Ph.D. (ABD with doctoral defense scheduled before the end of AY 2011-2012) in psychology, marketing, organizational behavior/management, or related field, strongly preferred, as well as a specialization in behavioral research with expertise in experimental methods.
Successful candidates will have the ability to conduct computer-based, web-based, and interpersonal interaction-based behavioral experiments; ability to make sound decisions based on knowledge of behavioral research methodology and theory, especially on-the-fly when experiments are ongoing and unexpected issues arise; shared research interests with full-time OCB faculty; experience and basic competence with data collection and analysis software such as MediaLab, Qualtrics, and SPSS/PASW; project management and analytical techniques; detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; planning, directing and reviewing the work of others on a project or day-to-day basis; coordinating multiple projects with competing deadlines; using tact, discretion and prudence in dealing with those contacted in the course of the work; interpersonal skills and demeanor necessary to manage interactions with faculty researchers as well as supervise student workers, and ability to handle research participants in an authoritative but respectful manner.
