The Human Resources team at the Walser Automotive Group is looking for a dynamic intern with a high attention to detail to assist their busy department for the summer. The HR intern will assist the team in supporting the organization’s mission, core values and long term objectives.  The HR Intern will gain working knowledge in the areas of: recruiting, new hire orientation, employee relations and general HR policies and procedures.

Job duties will include:

Recruiting Responsibilities:

  • Understand positions within the company and applicant requirements
  • Post new positions to external sites (i.e. LinkedIn, college job boards, StarTribune.com, etc.)
  • Evaluate incoming resumes for various open positions
  • Work with the recruiting team to identify qualified candidates
  • Conduct phone screens with candidates to ensure minimum qualifications are met
  • Schedule interviews with hiring managers and follow up to get feedback
  • Communicate feedback from interviews with candidates (offers and turn down conversations)
  • Learn and execute pre-employment screening processes for candidates (run DMV reports, background checks and sending candidates to drug test)

General Human Resources Responsibilities:

  • Assist with creating new hire packets for orientation
  • Call candidates to remind them of orientations and ensure they are prepared
  • Assist HR Generalist with new hire orientation (classes and 1:1 orientations)
  • Other miscellaneous duties as needed


Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

May 29th – August 10th

This is a paid internship at $10.00 per hour.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence and good driving record
  • Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 6 months + prior customer service experience required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft products (Minimum of Intermediate level in Excel & Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Must be able to work well in a changing environment and under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
