President Primary Responsibility:
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the College and provides leadership and direction for all College aspects. The President implements policies and procedures set forth by a seven-member Board of Trustees, the governing body of the institution. The President will be entrusted to provide visionary educational leadership which fosters community both inside and outside the college, especially with tribal communities and institutions, but also with those entities that will enrich the college and its students.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or related field preferred, and an ABD will be considered, with 3-5 years demonstrated leadership and effective administrative experience in higher education required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Visionary leadership
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will be expected to provide visionary leadership which fosters community both inside the college and with American Indian and regional communities in support of the college’s mission to build a union of cultures.

2. Internal leadership
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will be expected to provide leadership towards the effort to serve the tribal membership and to achieve academic excellence that is reinforced by the Anishinaabe that aspire to fulfill the academic pursuits of the tribal membership.  Leadership practices will strive for excellence in human resource management, the professional growth of the faculty and staff and student population.

3. Campus facilities
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will provide leadership with the development and implementation of long-term campus capital projects envisioned for the college. The President will strive to ensure that state-of-the-art technology is incorporated throughout all campus facilities and programs.

4. Partnerships
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will be expected to develop programs and activities that will enhance and expand partnerships with the business community in northern Minnesota;

The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will be expected to provide leadership and enhance the positive relationships that the college enjoys with K-12 educational institutions, including the four tribal schools, and with higher education institutions in the region.

5. Executive Officer
The President of the College shall be the Executive Officer of the College through whom the Board carries out its program and exercises its policies. The President shall carry out the duties and responsibility of the President of the College as stated in the LLTC Bylaws of the BOT section 4.0000.

6. Community Development
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will provide leadership in assessing needs for current community educational programs that support the mission of the college and facilitate implementation of its goals and objectives;

The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will provide leadership and support to facilitate the further development of new community instructional programs which support the long term vision of the college.


7. Student Services
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will provide leadership by developing strategies that will stabilize enrollment trends and increase full time student enrollment;
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will provide strong visionary leadership towards the development of a student-centered culture that ensures access, sustains educational excellence, fosters student development, and supports high levels of student achievement.

8. Accreditation
The President of Leech Lake Tribal College will ensure that all accreditation standards are implemented throughout the institution and are adhered to.


QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or related field preferred, and an ABD will be considered, with 3-5 years demonstrated leadership and effective administrative experience in higher education required.

Prior experience working with tribal, state, and federal governments;

Experience in strategic planning, financial planning and fundraising, and public relations;

Teaching experience at college level;

Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture, history, and language;

Demonstrated professional and ethical integrity;

Proven oral and written communication skills with a broad range of constituents;

A strong commitment to the mission and vision of the College, including support for LLTC’s emphasis on Anishinaabe values, culturally infused curricula, lifelong
learning, and community service.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Valid Minnesota driver's license and current auto insurance.
