UCare seeks a Database Administrator based in Minneapolis, MN. Duties include: Administer, test, and implement databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications. Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes. Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. Develop standards and guidelines to guide the use and acquisition of software and to protect vulnerable information. Responsible for working with managers, developers and network’s engineers to design, configure, deploy and support databases. Use SQL to support SQL Server and Oracle databases including diagnosing and tuning the database systems. Coordinate the activities related to database installation and configuration. Responsible for Oracle and SQL server database maintenance/support for various applications, some of which include Amisys and CCMS. Data modeling, designing and building relational databases. Support migration of Oracle databases and databases from SQL server 2000 to 2005 and 2008 in production, development and test environments. Create databases and logins with permissions in SQL and Oracle servers per user requests. Create Unix Shell scripts for pre- and post-session operations. Create and monitor database maintenance plants to check database integrity, data optimization, rebuilding indexes, and updating statistics. Build and support SQL Server replication and cluster environments.
Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in in Computer Science, Engineering, or related and at least 3 years of database administration experience and/or software engineering experience using relevant tools and technologies, including SQL Server, SQL, Solaris, Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g, Unix Shell Scripts, PERL, Toad, HP-UX, and IBM AIX, Foglight, TrackIt, Amisys, CCMS, Oracle Financials, and RH Linux. In lieu of a Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience a qualified candidate may have a Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant, post-Bachelor’s experience. All experience may be gained concurrently.
