To develop and conduct, under direction, programs that provide a comprehensive nature-inspired art education that will increase the public’s awareness to more fully appreciate, enjoy, and utilize the natural environment and facilities of the Park District through the creation and/or appreciation of visual and performing art.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under direction of Silverwood Park Supervisor and Arts Educator, presents nature-inspired art education pro­grams consistent with the mission of the Park District and philosophy of Silverwood Park to a wide variety of park visitors, diverse in age, disability, race / ethnicity. Applies creativity and innovation in the development of nature-inspired art education pro­grams and promotes their use to schools throughout the region and to the general public.  Participates in evaluation of programs to determine their effectiveness. Assists in the development of a variety of media including displays, preparation of program support materials, audio visual materials, and other forms of non-personal interpretive opportunities aimed at furthering the effectiveness of interpretive programs or widening their impact. Assists in the development and implementation of evaluative tools, which measure the effectiveness and appropriateness of ongoing interpretive programs and makes adjustments as necessary to improve program quality. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other Park District personnel, school personnel, and other group leaders.

High School Diploma or GED, plus at least one year of experience or related training. Experience in developing and implementing art education programs in a natural setting and previous Three Rivers Park District experience preferred. Experience with ceramics preferred.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search. Costs of the background will be paid for by Three Rivers Park District.
