OVERVIEW

Partners with Director and /or VP on building and execution of strategies, specific to collectibles, and support the divisional, departmental and company goals. Responsible for execution of the merchandising strategies, buying, vendor relations, and team management for the 3rd largest multi-channel and electronic retailer in the nation. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Source and develop new collectible products and business opportunities
  • Identify and maximize emerging industry trends. Perform market analysis, competitive shopping and analyze sales trends
  • Negotiate with vendors on availability, product detail, distribution, delivery deadlines and pricing
  • Train, motivate and develop team to ensure effective performance and growth
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with vendors
  • Execute business strategies to meet our customer needs and achieve financial objectives
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years merchandising buying experience within collectibles
  • Home shopping network experience in a merchandising role is preferred 
  • Managerial experience is preferred, as our buyers lead a team through direct management of assistant buyers and merchandise coordinators
  • Outstanding negotiating and communication skills 
  • Strong leadership skills 
  • Posses the creative ability to operate independently and work closely as a buying team and other cross functional teams
