Open Faculty Position: Assistant Professor of Exercise Science

The Department of Nutrition and Exercise Sciences invites applicants for an entry level, nine month tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2013 in the Exercise Science program.

The Exercise Science program at St. Catherine University is the only CAAHEP accredited exercise science program in the state and is committed to the development of effective, ethical leaders. Through study, practice and life experience, individuals have opportunities to enrich the knowledge, refine the skills and clarify the attitudes essential for responsible action.

Responsibilities: Teaching load may include, but is not limited to, teaching within the undergraduate exercise science program, advising undergraduate exercise science and pre-physical therapy majors, participating in appropriate committees and campus service positions, guiding internship experiences, and conducting scholarship related activities. An inter-professional approach to research, teaching, and education is strongly desired as is a willingness to engage in innovative curricular and pedagogical strategies such as undergraduate collaborative research.

Requirements: Earned doctorate in exercise physiology or related discipline and scholarship interests that expand the breadth of research already present in the department.   Minimum of three years of demonstrated successful teaching at the university level required, five years preferred. Evidence of engagement in, and dedication to, conducting and publishing research and presenting at professional meetings also required. A strong interest in women’s health and ACSM/NSCA/NASM certification preferred.
