Children, newborn to young adults who require intensive care. Includes medical and surgical patients--including:  transplant (solid organ, blood and marrow, auto-islet), neurology, neurosurgery pulmonary and ENT, hematology and oncology, orthopaedic, and trauma. . Provides care to pediatric patients who require close observation and monitoring. Performs advanced monitoring using current technology. Manages complex medication and infusion therapies. Cares for patient undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures/interventions on the unit. Demonstrates ability to safely and accurately operate unit equipment.  Focus on Patient and Family Centered Care.  Bed capacity: 12.  Works closely with staff in 12-bed CV-ICU located on same floor.  

MN RN licensure; BSN preferred  A minimum of one year current pediatric RN experience in a hospital based pediatric unit or acute care pediatric home care setting is required. One year current PICU, NICU or adult Critical Care experience is preferred. Certification in related specialty is highly desired. BLS required. Would provide extended orientation for nurse who does not have inpatient pediatric experience [e.g. coming from peds home care].
