911 Dispatcher
As 911 Dispatcher, you’ll perform skilled, technical, communications work monitoring & operating the 911 Emergency Communications System. In this 24/7 operation, you’ll work rotating shifts receiving & transmitting calls for emergency service & assistance. This position is fast-paced, multi-task oriented, & demands quick decisions when helping people in emergency situations. MQs: Requires equivalency of high school graduation & 1 year of 911 emergency dispatch experience OR 2 years of work experience in emergency response, crisis hotline, or a service oriented role interacting with people. Emergency dispatching experience within the last 7 years is preferred. One must type at least 40 wpm & remain calm in an atmosphere of changing priorities & periods of high stress. Salary Range: $42,328 to $57,267–DOQ. Selection: Rating of Training & Experience. Preliminary & final selection will include written & typing exams, background investigation, & further assessments.
