Director of Patient Placement


Plan, implement and direct process for bed availability and patient placement, coordinate communication with referring physicians and facilitate accepting physician assignment. Work collaboratively with patient care units, E.D and all components of patient flow, census management and resource allocation. Overall accountability and responsibility for the UMMC/Amplatz patient placement process from the time a patient requires admission to the time the patient is placed in a bed. Coordinate processes with Registration, patient care units, staffing office, care management, E.D., medical staff and all involved hospital departments to ensure collaborative and effective working relationships. This position also provides supervision and leadership to Administrative Nursing Supervisors.  



Minimum Education

Masters in a healthcare or related field or commensurate of at least 10 years health care

experience in a professional level and at least 5 years of management experience, provided the candidate is currently enrolled in a masters degree program.  

Minimum License/Certification/Registration

Licensed Registered Nurse



Minimum Experience

3-5 years management experience in a hospital setting


Preferred Experience

Leadership experience in an academic medical center
