Nursing Station Technician

The NST is responsible for assisting the nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, reordering and stocking supplies in the perioperative department. The NST performs a wide range of customer service and clerical duties, including providing assistance to patients and visitors, answering the telephone, prepping patient charts and maintaining the patient care unit main desk area. The NST coordinates the flow of communication in the pre-operative and post-operative care units and assists with the escorting of our pediatric patient's caregivers into and out of the operating room for the inductionm of anesthesia. The NST works under the direction of the professional nurse at all times. 

Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required Must be on the MN Nursing Assistant Registry or eligible to be registered within 6 months of hire date.

Previous Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), Nursing Assistant (NA) or Nursing Station Technician (NST) experience or completed technical college, or equivalent HUC program, and related experience in a hospital setting preferred. Previous experience working with children preferred. Other skills: Knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations and hospital procedures is required. Communication skills such as clear speech, ability to read, legible handwriting, and basic computer skills are required. Basic Life Support certification preferred.
