Internal Audit Director


The Internal Audit Director will develop and direct a comprehensive audit program. Provide assurance and consulting services; determine and identify appropriate resources to effectively and efficiently execute the audit program. Perform advanced level professional and managerial internal auditing work in the areas of risk management, control, and governance. Provide ongoing training, coaching, supervision and performance appraisals to Internal Audit staff. Maintain professional ethical standards; and maintain effective working relationships with the Board and related committees, management, and staff.


 


Responsibilities:



  • Develop the Annual Audit Plan in collaboration with key business leaders and the Board or designated Board committee, including the identification and evaluation of risk areas.
  • Collaborate with leadership throughout UCare to assess the Company’s processes for identifying and managing business risk and delivering organizational effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Direct and oversee audit staff in the planning, organizing, conducting and monitoring of overall Internal Audit operations.
  • Direct the preparation and review of meeting materials for the Board or designated Board committees.
  • Direct, oversee and perform complex performance, financial, and compliance audit projects.
  • Direct, oversee and perform the review and analysis of business processes. 
  • Review and approve the audit objectives, scope, and audit programs for assigned audit projects.
  • Direct the performance of and perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues and recommendations, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing relevant information, evaluating evidence, documenting business processes and procedures, and completing audit documentation.
  • Communicate the results of audits through written reports and oral presentations to management and the Board or designated Board committee.
  • Track and report on significant issues through remediation, and conduct a follow-up audit as appropriate to ensure effective implementation and remediation.

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree required, graduate degree in business administration, or a related field is preferred.  
  • Certification in good standing as a CIA or CPA.
  • Experience with auditing health insurance or HMO finances, and business operations. Experience applying International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors. 
  • Experience in public auditing, and in managing and conducting audits in health care organizations regulated by Medicare and Medicaid laws, rules and procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of information technology terminology, concepts and practices.
  • Skills in conducting quality control reviews of audit work products.
  • Skills in collecting and analyzing complex data, evaluating information and systems, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Skills in planning and project management and in maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Skills in negotiating issues and resolving problems.
  • Skills in using a computer with word processing, spreadsheet and other business software to prepare reports, memos, summaries and analyses.
  • Skills in effective verbal and written communications, including interpersonal and active listening skills, and skill in presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with the internal audit team, management and staff and external contacts, and to work effectively in a professional team environment. 
  • Ability to organize, extract, analyze and report on data, and ascertain the validity or credibility of such data.
