Unity Hospital, located in Fridley, Minn. serves the northern metropolitan communities with a full continuum of care and services and is known for its expertise in bariatrics and obstetrical care. With 1,500 employees and 220 staffed beds, Unity provides inpatient and outpatient services to more than 107,000 patients each year. It shares its nearly 842-physician medical staff with Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn.


Responsibilities

  • Clinical skills and ability to work on a Geriatric Mental Health unit and the Substance Abuse unit - Approximately 50% of shifts will be worked on each unit
  • Clinical knowledge of medical terminology and documentation
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with healthcare team members
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast pace environment within a 8 hour timeline
  • Demonstrated self-directedness
  • Excellent customer services and recovery skills
  • Computer skills, specifically Epic
  • Acute or long-term care facility, and substance abuse experience preferred
  • Maintain and manage a milieu safely

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • BSN preferred
  • 1 year of psychiatric experience and 1 year of Med/Surg experience required
  • Substance abuse experience preferred
  • Long-term geriatric patient care and substance abuse patients care experience that is patient focused
  • Leadership abilities and conflict management skills
  • Medical terminology required

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge base in related areas
  • Ability to work intimately with patients and families throughout the life continuum
  • Competency in data collection, monitoring and delegated intervention
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with health care team members, managers, leaders and with key persons who relate to the patient and family during times of illness and crisis
  • Excellent communication /telephone and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks/assignments in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with conflict and communicate effectively
  • Strong de-escalation skills

Licensure/Certification Required: BLS, and Minnesota RN license

RN hires with less than 1 year of RN experience must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (American Association of Colleges of Nursing or The National League for Nursing) which is inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility.

 

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Part-time: 32 hours/week
  • Day/Night Shifts: 8 hour shifts
  • Every other weekend
  • MNA Contract
