VAD Coordinator

The person performing this role is responsible for the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care for patients with a ventricular assist device. This coordination includes but is not limited to patient education, staff education, surgical coordination, clinic visits, and record keeping. The Univiersity of Minnesota Medical Center is one of leading centers worldwide in the implantation Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) and other mechanical support technologies for patients with advanced heart failure. 

Minimum Quals: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and current MN RN license, 3-5 years experience in cardiovascular, cardiac surgical, critical care or cardiac transplantation and/or care of patients with ventricular assist devices.

Preferred Quals: Master's degree in Nursing.  Previous VAD coordinator experience.

 All candidates for this position should have strong cardiovascular nursing and teaching skills. They should enthusiastic team members in a fast growing program that is constantly on the leading edge of new technology innovation and adoption, striving for breakthoughs in patient care, and participating in research, education, and other activites to remain at the forefront of the field. Rotating evening and weekend call is required.
