We are currently seeking a Director of Care Delivery Sites. This position directs the planning, development acquisition, implementation and support of Information Services and Technology (IS&T) for one or more primary Care Delivery Sites. This person is accountable for the coordination and support of IS&T applications across the entire care continuum including hospitals, clinics, and other care delivery entities within those sites. The person in this position partners with patient care and financial delivery units to provide solutions to improve the quality of care, streamline processes, improve efficiencies and enhance patient services. This position contributes to the overall strategy and direction of IS&T.

This position will be located in Stillwater, MN.


* Consults and develops site specific strategic plans; ensuring the appropriate tactical plans for the sites align with HealthPartners goals and objectives.

* Prepares expense and capital budget recommendations and monitors expenditures for multiple cost centers; analyzing variances, authorizing expenditures and establishing budgetary controls.

* Directs management, planning, and administration of IS&T services for the sites under their domain.

* Develops policies, controls, and procedures for IS&T as related to the delivery and operations of care systems and hospital financial systems; ensures compliance to IS&T and HealthPartners policies, standards, and procedures.

* Selects, organizes and develops an outstanding, highly motivated management team while promoting a positive, productive and diverse work environment.

* Develops, communicates, and mentors performance expectations to all reporting managers, staff and areas of accountability.

* Coordinates with leaders within Information Services & Technology to ensure seamless delivery of new products, services, and upgrades.

* Negotiates contracts and service agreements with outside parties on behalf of HealthPartners.

* Presents project recommendations to executive staff and steering committees including the site Information Technology Leadership Steering Committee (Chair) or the specific steering committee governing the sites IS&T investments.

* Ensures the success of major projects by providing oversight, vendor management, mentorship of project management staff, change management leadership, communication plan development and project budget accountability.

* Ensures continuity and availability of the sites through application management and wellness (24X7 support) as well as disaster recovery planning.

* Participates in departmental initiatives and councils.

* Performs additional duties as assigned.


* General understandings of system development, architecture and underlying infrastructure.

* General knowledge of database architectures, interactive processing, programming languages and end-user software

* Experience with application and lifecycle management

* Expertise with development methodologies, systems implementation, and operational efficiencies

* Experience with the development of electronic health records and other care delivery systems

* Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong consistent experience orientation to both internal and external customers

* Excellent analysis and problem solving skills, able to assess problems as part of a larger system

* Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with technical and non-technical topics. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority

* Excellent organization skills and ability to work independently

* Demonstrated team-building and team leadership capabilities

* Knowledge of regulatory requirements e.g. HIPAA, Joint Commission, Sarbanes Oxley, FDA requirements, etc


* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

* 10+ years of Information Services experience with increasing responsibility

* 8+ years of IT management experience in a health care setting


* Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or equivalent

* Operational experience in care delivery setting


* Allocates care delivery application resources

* Hires and terminates resources as necessary

* Approves funds up to a defined limit (per HealthPartners’ Finance)

* Negotiates and creates contracts and service agreements with outside parties
