Patient Access Services Representative 1
Hours of Work: Wk 1: Th, F, Sa, Su Wk 2:M 11:30pm-7:30am This position is responsible for completing the financial clearance process within Patient Access and creating the first impression of Fairview's services to patients and families and other external customers. The Patient Access Services (PAS) Representative must be able to articulate information in a manner that patients, guarantors and family members understand and so they know what to expect and have an understanding of their financial responsibilities. The PAS Representative will be responsible for completing the pre-registration, registration, insurance verification, benefits verification, certification, referral management, co-pay collections and medical necessity check - - as well as interviewing patients and guarantors to obtain information to screen for financial counseling, verifying eligibility and corresponding benefit levels, coordinating referrals and obtaining treatment authorizations. The PAS representative will also work with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance payors and other external sources to assist families in obtaining healthcare and financial services.
Qualifications
Minimum Quals: 1 to 2 years customer service experience in a healthcare or related setting with excellent communication skills and good computer skills. Preferred Quals: 1 year Admitting experience and/or health insurance experience and experience with automated patient account system and basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet applications and Internet.
Fairview internal applicants currently in a Level II position within the PAS job family, will qualify for a Level II position.
External applicants will only qualify for a Level I position and the Career Ladder process will be explained if there is an interview.
