TempForce, a premier staffing service in the Twin Cities, is seeking a Policy Service Technician for an insurance / reinsurance organization in St Paul. POSITION SUMMARY/OVERVIEW:
Responsible for setting up new policies following contractual rules and regulations, issuing new and renewal policies, issuing policy endorsements, responding to all agent/customer requests, offering renewals to current policy holders, analyzing and processing incoming correspondence and processing audits. Responsible for prompt and accurate customer service.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Customer Service
- Comply with contractual rules
- Answer all types of customer telephone calls
- Analyze correspondence to determine action needed
- Prepare correspondence and do follow up if necessary
Policy Issuance
- Review all new business policies to determine the agency assigned
- Set up new agencies in the computer
- Assign new business
- Set up new policies in the computer
- Offer renewal to existing policy holders
- Review all new business policies to determine the agency assigned
Policy Maintenance
- Issue endorsements based on correspondence, customer/agent requests, audit of prior year
- Process cancellations/reinstatements
- Update files for agent changes
Policy Audit
- Determine audit type (voluntary reporting or physical)
Accountable For
- Accuracy and integrity of data in the computer, on the policy, renewal offer, cancellation, endorsement and all other documents distributed outside or inside the organization
- Meeting policy issuance standards for new and renewal policies
- Meeting timeliness standards based on individual contract agreements and departmental standards
- Meeting team timeliness and quality standards
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
The following education, experience and skills requirements are necessary to perform the essential
- High school diploma or GED and two years office experience or post-high school education
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented
- 10-key by touch
- Typing ability of at least 45 wpm
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to deal effectively and professionally with coworkers and clients that may have highly varied backgrounds.
- Ability to work in a team and/or individual environment.
- Ability to concentrate in a high traffic area.
- Ability to handle multiple duties and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Basic PC skills and a working knowledge of Windows environment.
- Possess or be able to develop the skills to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and mouse for up to 7 hours per day.
- View a computer monitor for up to 7 hours per day.
- Ability to use a telephone and a calculator.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 7 hours per day.
- Must be able to move items that may weigh up to 10 lbs. repeatedly over the course of a normal business day.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of workers compensation insurance policies desired
- Working knowledge of client/server based policy processing software in a Windows environment helpful
