Humera Administrative Staffing is seeking a Senior Level Medical Underwriter to work for our client, a non-profit, taxable corporation that provides health insurance products for the individual, family, group, senior and government markets as well as a health management company, a charitable grant-making foundation and a research institute. The position is a 1 month long contracted position located in Minnetonka and they are looking to fill the position as soon as possible.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the degree of medical/financial risk involved in health and life coverage
- Evaluation of medical histories of individual members and projecting future costs associated with the member
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of medical conditions and treatments, applicable state and federal laws and product offerings
- Complete more complicated or long term underwriting projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 5 years previous medical underwriting experience
- Bachelor's degree required
- Strong knowledge of current medical conditions
- Basic understanding of Small Group Reform rules and regulations
- Knowledge and comfort with Excel and Word
- Individual health, life underwriting, or small group medical underwriting required
- RN or LPN is a plus
