Job Description:

Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree program in Nursing. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota. CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers required.

Knowledge of current nursing practices and techniques. Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family member and co-workers.

On this Neuro/Surg unit, care is delivered to acutely ill adult and geriatric patients dealing with general neurological problems and those with spinal disorders resulting in surgery. Care is also provided for patients with general surgery and surgical specialty needs including urology, gynecology, and ear, nose and throat procedures, and isolation patients (VRE, MRSA). Common neurological diagnoses include stroke, TIAs, infections of the central nervous system (CNS), altered mental status, spine surgery, tumor resections, cranioplasty and other patients followed by the neurosurgery department. Whenever possible, complementary therapy is used as an adjunct in caring for patients. The average length of stay (LOS) for patients on this unit is three days.

Additional Information:

Bachelor's prepared RN's are highly preferred along with at least 1 year of experience working as an RN in a hospital setting. Associate Degree RN's will be considered along with at least 2 years of experience working as an RN in a hospital setting.
