Job Summary:

The Sales Development Manager is responsible for creating the ideas that drive revenue for the Star Tribune. This position consults with Sales Representatives to understand client needs, develop ideas to meet those needs, and determine how to best present them. A successful candidate must be able to understand and creatively use Star Tribune products to meet client needs - particularly with new, digital products. Works at a fast pace with employees across the company—including news, research and sales—to create proposals and ideas.


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Consultative approach to customer/prospect business needs
  • Comprehensive digital media product knowledge/experience
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing multiple projects, customers and departments against specific timelines
  • Experience in development and execution of competitive media
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of competitive media and selling multiple products
  • Experience in a variety of marketing and/or sales positions
