Provide support to the pharmacy, under the direction of a pharmacist, in the central pharmacy and decentralized areas while assisting the pharmacist with compounding and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, IV solutions and documention as ordered by qualified prescribers. Assist with meeting the needs of the pharmacy customer base by demonstrating knowledge in a variety of areas. Prepare, label and deliver medications and supplies accurately and safely, as assigned and in accordance with all legal requirements and policies under the supervison of a licensed pharmacist. Operate equipment and use appropriate techniques when using automated medication stations, refilling, inventory tasks, basic reports and maintenance. Mix and label IV admixtures including: Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN), immunoglobulin mixtures, antibiotic piggybacks, and syringes, chemotherapy and other sterile products accurately and safely. Audit medication storage areas for proper storage of medications, dating and appropriate medication stock. Fill and distribute routine stock orders for patient care areas.
Six months previous pharmacy or medical experience preferred. Graduate of a pharmacy technician program preferred. Current or pending registration with the MN board of pharmacy. PTCB certification required or achievement of certification within 6 months in the role.
Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills.
