Job Description:

The Pathology / Histology Tech is responsible for processing surgical pathology specimens, including: assisting in the preparation of human surgical specimen dissection, assuring accurate and appropriate specimen accessioning including specimen/case labeling and billing levels, processing of small specimens according to set protocol, analyzing the acceptability of laboratory specimen, processing tissue specimens using tissue processor, embedding center and microtome, utilizing appropriate fixation and staining techniques including but not limited to the H&E stain and assisting the preparation of frozen section specimens.

Qualifications:

Histotechnician board certification or eligible. Completion of an approved histology program and clinical histology internship or completion of an accredited two year laboratory technician training program in a vocational school or junior college. Six (6) months experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Prefer ASCP certification or eligible.
