Job Description:

Regions Hospital has an exciting program for graduate Bachelor's prepared RN's who aspire to become long term critical care nurses at Regions. The Critical Care Immersion (CCI) Program is an 18 month orientation an on-boarding experience for newly graduate registered nurses, with the intended outcomes of achieving competencies (technical skill, specialty knowledge, interpersonal skills and critical thinking) to work successfully in a critical care area.

The program consists of orientation and work in a progressive care/telemetry unit for an initial period followed by a transistion to critical care orientation and work. This 18 month program consists of 4 phases. Transition between phases is customized to each participant and may be dynamic. All participants will have opportunities to "shadow" on the various adult ICU's (MICU, SICU, CICU and Burn) at Regions' prior to transitioning into a specific ICU. Some may transition into the ICU sooner, depending upon progressing, clinical competencies and capabilities.

Criteria for the CCI Program include:
-A clear passion and desire to work in a critical care setting and committment to Regions long term (minimum of two years once orientation to the ICU is complete)
-December 2012 graduate from a Baccalaureate Nursing Program OR an Associate's Degree with a previous Baccalaureate Degree in a healthcare related field) as well as passing the NCLEX.
-GPA of 3.0 or higher
-Prior work/volunteer experience in an adult ICU setting and/or student clinical experience on an adult critical care unit.
-Flexibility is a must! Must agree to work either Nights, Evening/Night, Evening or Day/Night as well as holidays and weekends.
-Understands that continuation in the program is dependant upon achievement of defined milestones.

4 positions are available with a start date of February 4th, 2013.
