Description
Develops, conducts, and enhances agricultural education programming that will increase the public’s awareness so that they may more fully appreciate and utilize the agricultural/natural environment and facilities of the Park District.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under direction from the Farm Supervisor and Farm Educator, conducts agricultural education pro­grams consistent with the mission of the Park District and philosophy of Gale Woods Farm Park and promotes its use to regional schools and public.  Assists in the daily care of livestock and gardens/croplands. Develops and maintains presentations in a variety of media including displays, preparation of program support materials, audio visual materials, and other forms of non-personal interpretive opportunities aimed at furthering the effectiveness of interpretive programs or widening their impact. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other Park District personnel, school personnel, and other group leaders. Makes recommendations to the Farm Supervisor and Farm Educator regarding the development and management of parks that will improve the effectiveness of the interpretive programs in the parks.  Exhibits a working knowledge of the aspects of the Park District environment being interpreted and makes an effort to increase a personal fund of knowledge for such use. Keeps abreast of the latest concepts and practices in the agricultural science, natural science, education, and outdoor recreation fields as applicable to interpretive services, and applies those that will improve the Park District's interpretive programs. Performs special assignments such as librarian, display coordinator, display construction, and information coordinator, as assigned.


Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED plus at least one year of experience or related training. Bachelor's degree in agricultural education, natural sciences, outdoor recreation, or related fields preferred. Experience in implementing agricultural education programs in a farm setting preferred. Previous Three Rivers Park District experience preferred.
