Unity Hospital, located in Fridley, Minn. serves the northern metropolitan communities with a full continuum of care and services and is known for its expertise in bariatrics and obstetrical care. With 1,500 employees and 220 staffed beds, Unity provides inpatient and outpatient services to more than 107,000 patients each year. It shares its nearly 842-physician medical staff with Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minn.


Responsibilities

  • The Patient Care Tech (PCT) is responsible for assisting the professional caregiver in the delivery of quality patient care, maintaining systems for the exchange of information/communication, and supporting efficient unit operations through securing equipment and supplies, as delegated by the professional nurse

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Current Nursing Assistant certification required
  • Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Program or previous relevant HUC experience strongly preferred
  • Medical background preferred
  • One year of nursing assistant (acute or long term care facility) experience preferred
  • Previous HUC experience or have completed vocational training or internal Unity training program, or equivalent and related experience
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire
  • BLS certification
  • Proficient in keyboarding and Windows based applications
  • Previous acute or long-term care facility experience preferred

Skills:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures
  • The ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families, and health care team members
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated self directedness
  • Demonstrated experience in providing excellence in customer service
  • Strong computer skills and experience working within an electronic medical record
  • Strong English communication skills in reading, writing, verbal comprehension and clear verbal expression

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Part time position (36 hours per week)
  • Evening shifts
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • Non-Contract
