Pharm Tech-UMC

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing customer service, preparing and distributing medications, processing inpatient orders in the pharmacy information system(s),  stocking and delivering medications and supplies, and assisting the pharmacist as required both centrally and de-centrally.  

Physical demands: sitting, standing, walking, push/pull, carrying, balance, stooping/crouching, grasping with right and left hand, finger dexterity, reaching below and above shoulders, reaching accross, rotation standing, bending at waist above 45 degrees.

Talking in person, on the phone, with public. Hearing in person, on the phone. Boxes of supplies; if handling UPS boxes, may weigh 40lbs.

Physical environment: noise, infectious disease, moving machinery, fumes/gases, human tissue/fluids, chemicals, biohazard material.

Mental demands: freq people contact, irregular work schedule, detailed work, freq interruptions, decision making skills, concentration required, work independently, multitask, freq deadlines, organizational skills, work with others.   

Applicant should have current or pending registration with the MN Board of Pharmacy. Preferred that applicant is a graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program. Six months previous pharmacy technician experience required. Applicant should have excellent customer service skills, be proficient in the English language, have good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills.
