Completion of an accredited associate, baccalaureate or master’s degree program in Nursing. Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota. CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers required.

Knowledge of current nursing practices and techniques. Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively participate on an interdisciplinary treatment team. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with patients, family member and co-workers.

In collaboration with, and under the direction of the Nurse Manager/Supervisor, the Charge Nurse is responsible for several key functions. These include: matching competent caregivers with a patient assignment, flexing staffing to meet the volume and acuity needs of the unit, being the point of contact for physician and family interactions, managing the flow of patient activity on the unit and creating and sustaining a healing environment consistent with BCBE and Healthy Workplace standards. The Charge Nurse exercises independent judgment in the daily performance of their duties when giving work direction. She/he may address staff performance issues by providing real time coaching, counseling, mentoring and role modeling. The Charge nurse will also provide direct patient care.

Must have at least 2 years of RN experience at a.8 FTE or above. Hospital experience is highly preferred.

This is for 0.75 charge position may have clinical shifts to 0.85
