Mercy Hospital, located in Coon Rapids, Minn. serves the northern metropolitan communities with a full continuum of care and services and has been nationally recognized for its expertise and outcomes in cardiovascular care. With 2,300 employees and 239 staffed beds, Mercy provides inpatient and outpatient services to nearly 140,000 patients each year. It shares its nearly 842-physician medical staff with Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn.
ResponsibilitiesThe Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides clerical functions to facilitate unit organization. this is accomplished through the major job components of coordination/communication, order processing, transcription, role modeling, quality/resource stewardship and patient advocacy/customer service.
- Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Program
- High School Graduate or GED
- Previous acute care experience preferred
- Medical terminology required
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced environment
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to establish effective relationships with health care team members
- Strong communication/telephone skills
- Computer and clerical skills
- Customer service skills
Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
- Part-time: 20 hours/week
- Night Shift
- Every other weekend
- L113 Contract
