We are very excited to announce that the New Hope YMCA has a rewarding opportunity for an Aquatics Director to join our team!

The Aquatics Director is responsible for the development and implementation of safe, quality programs for members and guests. This position will include coordination and supervision of a portfolio, which may include swimming lessons, lifeguard/open swimming, specialty aquatic programs, and CPR/First-Aid/Lifeguard training.

This is a shared position with the North Community Youth and Teen Enrichment Center.  The preferred candidate will have waterpark experience. Essential Functions

  • Provides leadership for aquatics program, including development, evaluation and implementation of programs
  • Direct and coordinate lifeguard/instructor coverage and CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard/AED/Oxygen certification programs
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate aquatics staff and volunteers
  • Prepare budgets specifically related to assigned programs and assure adherence to final budget income generation and expense control
  • Promote facility and off-site aquatics programs, representing the YMCA in the community
  • Be available to work hands-on in programs, as needed
  • Assist in supervision and development of family programs in all areas of members and class participants
  • Collaborate with community agencies including schools, local/county governments to provide cooperative programming in YMCA National Aquatic programs for the Branch and community

Qualifications - Required

  • 2 years of experience in aquatics programming, pool operation and 2 years experience supervising staff (direct reports)
  • Ability to be organized and enthusiastic as well as work with a diverse group of people, including members and participants of all ages, paid and volunteer staff, colleagues and community representatives
  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR Professional Rescuer, AED. Oxygen Administration required within 30 days of hire
  • Current ARC or YMCA Lifeguard certification
  • YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certifications within 60 days of hire
  • Experience in recruitment, training and development of staff and volunteers

Qualifications - Preferred

  • Degree in physical education, recreation, or related field
  • CPR/First-Aid/AED Instructor certifications
  • Lifeguard Instructor certifications with AED and O2 Administration
  • YMCA Lifeguard Training Certification

Physical Demands

  • Must have the physical ability to perform all rescue and teaching techniques
  • Travel to various off-site locations in the community
