Allina Commons is the Minneapolis-based headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. Responsibilities

  • Analyze inpatient hospital medical records
  • Assign accurate ICD-9, MS-DRG for inpatient facility coding
  • Retrospective querying of the healthcare provider as needed for accurate severity/DRG assignment (inpatient)
  • Accurate and timely abstracting and coding

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 2 year Health Information Technician graduate
  • 4-year Registered Health Information Administrator graduate, or completion of a Coding Specialist Certificate program and/or CCA certificate with requirement to pass the CCS exam within 2 years of course completion
  • 2 years inpatient facility coding experience highly preferred (including inpatient DRG assignment)

Skills:

  • Knowledge of ICD-9, MS-DRG coding classifications
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to read and interpret physician/healthcare provider documents
  • Ability to interpret terminology in the record when it differs from terms in ICD-9
  • Using judgement to translate conditions into accurate codes
  • Code within timeframes established for accounts receivable goals
  • Computer skills

Licensure/Certifications:

  • CCS, RHIT, RHIA

 

 


Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Full-time: 40 hours per week
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday or 4days (but must work Fridays)
  • Day/Evening/Night shifts
  • No weekends
  • Non-Contract
