Sawyer County is currently accepting applications for the position of Accounting Manager. This is highly responsible administrative, technical and senior accounting work with strong accounting experience preferably in governmental accounting to oversee all financial activities of the County. This position is responsible for all financial administration of the county, including accounting systems, financial reporting, record keeping, budgeting and internal auditing. Work involves responsibility for insuring the reliability of financial information including advising and assisting all County officials and Department Heads in the fiscal management of County Operations. Work also includes establishing and maintaining a continuing program of financial improvement within the County, including the review of daily clerical procedures, forms and information flow to improve coordination and speed of County financial processes; developing and maintaining long-range fiscal programs and financial systems and reviews and develops information systems and programs in line with County policy and future County need. Work is performed with considerable latitude under the direction of the Finance and Personnel/Administrative Committees and ultimately the County Board.
Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Public Administration and a minimum of 5 years progressively responsible professional work experience in the areas of budgeting, accounting, or fiscal management, or related experience preferably within a governmental unit, or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, abilities and skills. Must have knowledge and experience using and implementing GAAP and principles of municipal finance/accounting. See job description for all other required qualifications.
Salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000 depending on qualifications with an excellent competitive fringe benefit package.
