Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedics are highly trained and dedicated health care team members who provide emergency and respiratory care to patients as part of the EMS system. The EMT Paramedics must deal with both injury and illness and the emotional problems that result for such emergencies. Effective problem solving and overall efficiency are essential components to this success. EMT-Paramedics work toward the goals of the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.
Education and Experience: Graduate from a recognized EMT-Paramedic training program.
Special Skills and Aptitudes: Ability to solve problems and implement solutions effectively. Ability to perform routine and complex procedures. Effective interpersonal relation skills, observations and reporting skills. Ability to communicate technical or procedural concepts effectively. Ability to lead and supervise activities. Ability to evaluate procedures, equipment and people. Ability to adapt resources to needs of the situation. Understands the theory of methodologies in use. Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive safely and carry light to heavy objects and people. Must possess average dexterity, legible handwriting, and correctable vision. Ability to read maps and map books and find locations in the service area. Ability to work under stressful conditions. Ability to use communications equipment including but not limited to telephones, cellular telephones, portable and vehicle radios, fax machines. Ability to use a computer.
License/Certifications: MN Paramedic License or paramedic license within 1 month of hire if on the National Respitory Care Practitioner registry. American Heart Association CPR and ACLS Certificate. Valid driver’s license. For COLA – Must provide a copy of the highest diploma or degree attained.
