Coding Quality Coordinator

Responsible for quality monitoring activities of the coding done in HIM, both ongoing reviews and focused studies, to ensure data integrity and proper DRG and APC assignment. Identifies problem coding areas and opportunities for improvement, shares monitoring results with HIM Management and Corporate Compliance Department, and peforms ongoing coding education of current coding staff and training of new coding staff.


Qualifications

Graduate of an approved prgram for HIA of Health Information Technician with credentialling, a RHIA or RHIT or certified coding specialist with 3 - 5 years related experience. Understanding of the PACE and/or PASS billing system and government regulations regarding physician billing/HCFA-1500 billing requirements and/or facility billing requirements. Good working knowledge of DRGs. Excellent communications skills.
