Diabetes Education Specialist

The Certified Diabetes Education Specialist is responsible for the education of patients, their families and appropriate support systems about diabetes self-management and related issues. The CDES provides diabetes self management education (DSME) and coordinates protocol-based diagnostic testing and treatment, which may include medication management, nutrition, physical activity, healthy coping, risk reduction, monitoring and problem-solving. DSME is provided most often in a group setting. The CDES is responsible to ensure the program is meeting the criteria to maintain AADE recognition. The CDES also serves as a resource to other staff members as needed. This position will provide services to several metro clinics. 


Qualifications

 

Requirements: Current Minnesota RD, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) as well as BLS is required.
