Due to a planned retirement, Metro Bus is seeking applicants for the Executive Director position. Metro Bus is a people driven organization with a strong emphasis on customer service, located in St. Cloud, MN. We are a multiple award winning Transit Authority, created by the State of Minnesota in 1969, currently serving a four-city metropolitan area. Our 140 employees provide seven day a week fixed route, dial-a-ride, and University transportation along with commuter bus service. St. Cloud is located on the Mississippi River just one hour northwest of Minneapolis/St. Paul and one hour from the beautiful lakes area of Minnesota.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Director is accountable to a five member Board of Commissioners for the overall management, coordination and direction of a metropolitan transit system in a diverse and growing area. The applicant must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with government agency representatives, public officials as well as staff, union officials and the general public is critical.
Responsibilities include management and administrative direction of operations, maintenance, vehicle and facilities acquisition, planning, financial, procurement, personnel and public relations of Metro Bus. The candidate must have excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills including the ability to assign, coordinate and evaluate the work of administrative, professional and technical employees.
Background & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, planning, operational management or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years senior management experience. Demonstrated backgrounds in strategic planning, grants management, contract administration, and government finance mechanisms.
