SPINE CARE
Primary Function and Major Responsibilities
Works closely with the physician leadership of HealthEast Spine Care, the multi-disciplinary leadership team, the hospital CEOs, and overall HealthEast leadership to develop and implement plans and programs to ensure success of HealthEast Spine Services. Communicates to hospital and system leadership the priorities, policies, and procedures as they relate to HealthEast plans. Serves as a liaison/champion of Spine Care throughout HealthEast. Provides front-line leadership in developing and executing the system and hospital’s strategic and business development strategies and achieving defined objectives. Leads development of new clinical programs and services. Secures resources to generate accurate data to monitor clinical and financial (including contracting and reimbursement) performance, executes hospital policies and procedures at the direction of Medical Leadership, and works to ensure compliance with laws governing hospital physician relationships.
In collaboration with physician and other leaders, develops a comprehensive Spine Services plan & strategy. Insures the advancement and execution of these strategies by incorporating them into clinical and administrative processes and procedures.
Establishes and facilitates highly functional relationships with Spine Service providers and nurture an environment conducive for collaboration with physicians and staff.
Based on communication and feedback from physicians, other healthcare providers
and patients; recommends and implements process improvements that result in
improved patient and staff satisfaction.
In conjunction with Physicians, Clinical leaders and Marketing resources, develops marketing and communication plans to increase awareness and utilization of Spine Services.
Oversees the financial resources, budgets and analysis of the product line.
Directs the creation and implementation of a spine database and research infrastructure to enable leaders to improve collection and analysis of clinical and quality outcomes. This information will become a key component of the overall marketing and communications plan for both providers and consumers.
Consistently seeks out opportunities to expand knowledge of best practices and new developments within related areas and incorporates this knowledge into the operation of the product line.
Establishes and executes a robust research agenda.
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business or health-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Master’s in Healthcare or Business Administration preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- Seven years of hospital based experience, including service line development and management
- Minimum of ten years experience of progressive leadership experience
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Management experience in the care and management of orthopaedic or spine patients preferred
- Solid, successful experience in service line development and management
- Proven interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead and inspire work teams while being results-oriented
- Well-developed level of comfort working with physicians at a peer level
- Ability to build consultative relationships, to work collaboratively and to develop successful partnerships with others
- Demonstrated success with physician and employee relations
- Innovative and entrepreneurial, willing to take calculated risks
- Motivated toward personal growth and development
- Ability to work with all levels of staff
- Ability to coordinate care across multiple inpatient and outpatients areas of the hospital
- Proven financial acumen
- Demonstrated process improvement and critical/analytical processing experience
- Demonstrated experience nurturing a culture conducive for high employee engagement and patient satisfaction
