CERTIFIED NURSE MIDWIFERY

Primary Function and Major Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, independently managing, implementing and continually evaluating quality nurse-midwifery care in clinical and hospital settings in accordance with applicable policies and procedures and in the context of careful coordination with CNM, physician and staff colleagues and other HealthEast and community medical and social service professionals.

Performs the duties of a Certified Nurse Midwife practicing the full scope of state of the art Midwifery service.

Performs Midwifery Services at multiple clinics and hospitals.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM).
- Must have current MN RN license and be certified by the ACNM.
- Active member of a professional nursing organization, experience and current active practice of midwifery, demonstrated expertise in teaching, and current CPR certification.
- Must hold and/or be able to obtain a DEA certificate.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years previous experience practicing the full scope of nurse midwifery required.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, clinical practice standards, normal maternal / fetal growth and development, and requirements of nurse midwifery practice.
- Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to transport oneself to and from multiple work locations.
- Able to communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership, and others.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Previous experience with waterbirths preferrred.
