The Commons, located in Minneapolis, is the headquarters of Allina Health, a not-for-profit health care organization serving patients and communities. Approximately 1,600 corporate and administrative service employees work at offices within Midtown Exchange, the site of the historic Sears retail complex at Chicago Avenue and E. Lake Street. This community landmark, adjacent to the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of Allina Health, is the second largest building in Minnesota and includes offices, an internationally themed public market and residential units.


Responsibilities

  • eHIM Supervisor position to support growing eHIM release of information / disclosure management process
  • This position would have responsibility of 15 staff
  • Supports remote eHIM disclosure processing, evening customer service staff, some day processing staff, and Meaningful Use disclosure requirements and turnaround
  • Supervisor is an integral part of the management team and has responsibilities for carrying out strategic initiatives as well as management responsibilities of performance evaluations, recruit / interview / hire / discipline staff members, monitoring workflow and performance, and assuring work assignments are completed in a timely manner
  • As part of the HIM PII strategic growth
  • Volumes are tracking to an anticipated 300,00 requests opened in 2012 (225,00 in 2012)


Education

  • AAS or BA / BS
  • RHIT OR RHIA required (credential eligible within 6 months of hire date will be considered with commensurate experience)

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in a HIM lead or supervisory role
  • Experience in an electronic medical record environment required
  • Must be literate in managing technology and problem solving
  • Past experience in managing staff performance
  • Thorough understanding of HIPPAA, MN, federal rules / statutes related to disclosure management requirements

Licensure / Certification:

  • RHIT / RHIA

Skills:

  • Effective time management skills, human resource management
  • Highly developed interpersonal and written communication required
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal rules / statutes, privacy rules / statutes
  • Understanding of HIM operations and flow of patient information
  • Must possess technical skills and understanding of electronic medical record functionality
  • Experience in release of information highly desired

  • Full time: 40 hours / week
