The Manufacturing/Process Engineer will be responsible for defining, troubleshooting and improving processes and equipment related to injection molding and conventional machining, improving operating efficiencies and increasing the company's quality standards.
Specific duties include:Provide root cause analysis and justification for projectsIndependently research subjects in the areas of tooling and fixturingDrive continuous improvement projects from inception to completionProvide production support including day-to-day problem solvingEvaluate and improve process flow in Proto Labs' business unitsIdentify and leverage design opportunities that provide a distinct manufacturing advantage in our marketsSupport the conversion of small-scale processes to commercially viable large-scale operations
Minimum Qualifications:Possess a background or working knowledge of machining and/or injection moldingPossess strong knowledge concerning cutting tools and parameters in regard to various materials (e.g., soft and hard metals, plastics).Know the fundamental science and engineering principles relevant to materials Ability to independently identify and execute on corrective actions, provide direction and leadership in accomplishing goalsExcellent analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment. Good written and oral communication skills: able to communicate complex technical information to all levels of the organizationSuccessfully perform within a project framework including defined deliverables and time frames Concurrently solve immediate issues while maintaining a vision of the futureAbility to close out projects and tasks Education Requirements:A Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university is required.A Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited college or university is preferred. Physical Requirements:This position will be located in the corporate office environment, but will spend up to 50% of the time in our manufacturing facility.
Location: Proto Labs' Corporate Headquarters is located in Maple Plain, MN, just minutes west of the 494/394 interchange. Our Rosemount, MN facility is located off of County Road 42 & Highway 3.Our Plymouth, MN facility is located on Niagara Lane between Highway 55 & County Road 6.
