CANCER CARE -ADMIN
Primary Function and Major Responsibilities
Has responsibility for the overall implementation of the Oncology Information System and related products. This includes communication, training, system development and system maintenance. Responsible for the integration of the clinical and information system from a process and procedural flow standpoint. Ensures regulatory compliance and use of best practices.
Responsible for the management of selected activities required for a successful implementation of software products.
Responsible for leading Cancer Care Information Systems implementation efforts.
Understands and have read the HealthEast Compliance manual and all departmental communication specific to compliance. Assists in the evaluation, planning and implementation of the organization’s compliance program.
Serves as liaison to support system maintenance in the forms of reports, policies, and procedures and participates in database updates and maintenance. Serves as liaison to promote system development.
Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of the ongoing Quality Improvement process.
Perform and monitor daily operational procedures as needed.
Responsible for the development of Cancer Care Information Systems.
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Science or B.A. from accredited academic institution (preferred). Healthcare related field, business, or management experience preferred or equivalent combination of skills, abilities and experience will be considered.
Experience and Qualifications:
Clinical:
Knowledge and experience with cancer care operations and regulatory environment to support the oncology system;
Knowledge or experience with operations in a clinical setting;
Thorough knowledge of the clinical processes and procedures including order entry and documentation;
Detailed knowledge of data entry processes including scheduling and registration;
Understanding of supplies and charges;
Application of evidence based practices;
Receive and relay medical and technical information from and to varied populations including clients, families, staff and reimbursement organizations.
Administrative:
Good time management skills. Demonstrates to be self-directed and self motivated in areas of program implementation, maintenance of the system database, answer user’s questions, and generate and/or analyze reports
Authority to make system-related decisions and policies for all departments involved or to follow an established protocol for such decisions;
Demonstrated organizational skills;
Demonstrated problem-solving skills;
Ability to coordinate and/or supervise activities of staff related Information System Cancer Care products.
Communication:
Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to serve as a liaison to Cancer Care Information System vendors;
Ability and availability to train system users;
Knowledgeable in how to develop communication plans. Addresses changes in process, procedures or product. Ability to communicate updated information to system users at all levels;
Ability to establish and foster working relationships with contacts such as physician offices, hospital administration, home care, and/or other departments.
Technical:
Must demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply process and procedures to an automated system;
Familiarity of hardware components;
Where applicable, familiarity with network hardware and software;
Basic understanding of database software;
Basic understanding of modem usage and tape backups;
Aptitude and interest in learning and maintaining Cancer Care Information Systems.
Cancer Care experience is required. Mosaiq experience preferred.
