We are currently seeking a Director of Research Informatics and Information Systems to join HealthPartners Research Foundation (HPRF).  This newly created position will be responsible for facilitating new and innovative ways to improve health through informatics, information systems and services in collaboration with HPRF research investigators, collaborators within HealthPartners (e.g., Information Services & Technology, Health Informatics, Medical Group & Clinics) and external collaborators (e.g., University of Minnesota, HMO Research Network, Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement).  HPRF is an independent, not-for-profit research organization within the HealthPartners family of health care organizations, located in the Minneapolis / St. Paul metro area. HPRF conducts public domain, peer-reviewed health services, clinical and basic science research in an academic setting that improves the health of HealthPartners members and the community. Specifically, this position will be responsible for:

• Leading the strategic planning efforts for HPRF informatics, information systems and services in support of HPRF strategic needs by working cooperatively and effectively with leaders and staff at all levels.
• Establishing and maintaining internal and external organizational relationships that provide for the present and future conduct of research.
• Recruiting, developing, leading and retaining a strong staff of sufficient talent in order to implement crucial projects and initiatives.
• Ensuring HealthPartners senior and operational leaders have the information they need to support decisions and track projects, programs and Research Foundation performance.
• Directing HPRF reporting and data analysis efforts including conducting high level data analysis and presents data as needed.
• Proactively works with staff and other HealthPartners departments to ensure accuracy and consistency in data and reporting standards.
• Negotiation and management of daily priorities across a diverse set of customers and organizational priorities and status communications.
• Budget development and monitoring, financial management and policy and procedure maintenance and development.  
• The development and implementation of new systems and/or processes including analyzing and evaluating project requests with regard to organizational priorities and objectives.  
• The integration of approved projects into existing work schedules, resource requirements including staffing, equipment, software, and outside services.
• Maintains awareness of laws and regulations governing research and health care.  Ensures compliance to state and federal regulations, including privacy and security regulations.
• Actively participates in the creation, update and ongoing testing of business continuity and disaster recovery planning and preparation.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in information services/technology, business, statistics, or a related field, along with ten years experience in information systems/technology or in using data for health care management or research, and at least three years experience managing teams of people. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience conducting full strategic planning, with project and execution planning abilities.  This position requires prior experience in the development and implementation of complex data sets and interpretation methods to produce actionable information along with strong project management skills and the ability to think and plan for the future.  This position will be responsible for building strong relationships internally at HealthPartners and with external collaborators so excellent service oriented interpersonal skills are imperative.
