RESPIRATORY THERAPY

Primary Function and Major Responsibilities
Provide therapeutic and diagnostic services to patients with respiratory care disorders.




Administers therapeutic procedures according to the respiratory care policy and procedure manual.

Performs diagnostic testing of the respiratory and circulatory systems to assist physician in assessing patient condition.

Provides ventilatory assist and support to patients with respiratory compromise/failure under physician directions.

Maintains equipment used in department for therapeutic and diagnostic services.

Participates in departmental billing process to facilitate payment for
services.

Schedules diagnostics and therapies that meet the needs of respiratory care customers.

Participates in departmental education program in order to maintain current respiratory care skills.

Executes job duties in accordance to HealthEast Infection Control Policies.

Assesses, identifies, and addresses special needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients when directly or indirectly providing patient care.

Understands the security requirements of medications and IV solutions.

Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Performs all related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate of American Medical Association accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Candidate will be Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or be certification eligible and achieve certification within one year of employment and Registered as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the Minnesota State Board of Medical Practice or have temporary registration by the MN State Board of Medical Practice and obtain NBRC Certification (CRTT) within one year of employment, becoming Registered by the State Board at that time. BLS Certified.

Experience:
One year clinical experience.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good communication skills;
Ability to work independently;
Good organizational skills;
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
