Position Summary

The Laboratory Compliance Manager reports to the Compliance Officer and is responsible for overseeing and monitoring implementation of the Lab Compliance Program, for partnering with management to provide continual risk assessment and in the development of comprehensive policies and procedures, compliance training, protocols, audits, and investigations.  

Bachelors level degree in Business or Healthcare related field with eight to ten years laboratory administrative responsibilities including billing compliance.   Medical Technologist preferred.  Must be knowledgeable in billing regulations that apply to facilities offering laboratory services.  Significant experience in working with current CPT, ICD-9, and HCPCS coding nomenclature, and rules is required.  

Other requirements include:
• PC proficiency with Windows based software, and Microsoft Office Suite products in a network environment   
• Project Management experience desired  
• Ability to work collaboratively and establish rapport with manger and staff of multiple disciplines to assure positive outcomes
• Ability to establish personal and professional credibility in the organization  
• Uses independent judgment to manage and impart confidential information
• Knowledge of auditing concepts and principles
• Advanced knowledge of medical coding and billing systems and regulatory requirements
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and policy laboratory compliance issues related to medical coding and billing procedures and documentation  
• Knowledge of current and developing issues and trends in laboratory coding procedures requirements
• Ability to analyze and solve problems
• Ability to adapt and modify medical billing procedures, protocol, and data management systems to meet specific operating requirements
• Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public
• Ability to provide guidance and training to professional and technical staff in area of expertise
