Position Summary Information Position Responsibilities

St. Catherine University, St. Paul campus, invites applications for the full time position of Lead System and Network Administrator (Windows) in the department of Information Technology Services.

Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision, this systems integration position performs Windows Server administration primarily and/or RedHat Enterprise systems administration and integration with ERP systems and associated servers including Database servers, DAS, NAS, SAN storage support within VMware environment, and network management while delivering reliable, secure, and agile server services and network services to our multi campus environment. This position works across departmental and managerial boundaries to design, implement, analyze, monitor, specify and recommend technologies, and services, by the use of hardware and software throughout the University.

This position building and maintaining secure Windows and/or Linux systems in standalone and virtual environments with SAN storage and backup and disaster recovery services. The individual should possess full understanding of LAN, WLAN, WAN, topologies in IP-4 and IP-6 environments.

This position is a Tier Three lead technician and systems administrator position working in collaboration and coordination with the other department support teams. This would include but not limited to security, services deployment, performance tuning, failover, storage, and recovery of systems. Additionally, maintain up to date fully developed documentation of the same. Further responsibilities include developing training materials to support Server, Infrastructure, Desktop and Helpdesk support staff.

This position will work in collaboration with the other system and network administrators, Desktop Support Supervisor, Help Desk Supervision and all staff. This position is responsible for developing systems documentation, maintaining workflow documentation and standards documentation for managing and troubleshooting technologies.

This position is a senior technical position and will be called upon to provide weekly and monthly reporting, attend meetings as a technical expert, provide planning and design recommendations for review and supervisory approval, and other duties as assigned. Have excellent time management skills in a demanding environment is a must. This technical position holds a key resource role for supporting the core University infrastructure both during the day and on an on-call basis. This position provides 24X7 on call support.

Position Qualifications

Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in a technical discipline plus five (5) years experience supporting a production IT environment. (eight (8) years experience can substitute for technical degree discipline.).
• Minimum of three (3) years experience managing systems and networks, preferably in an academic setting.
• An in-depth knowledge of servers, networks, middleware and desktops and backup/restoration services.
• Demonstrated excellent problem solving skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• The successful candidate must have the ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families and communities.
