To provide District-wide Nordic ski or Alpine ski/snowboard instruction to the public in accordance with established standards by the Professional Ski Instructors of America and Three Rivers Park District in a manner that provides park guests with the highest quality service possible.

All Elm Creek employees receive a FREE unlimited ski pass. Ski or snowboard anytime during the entire 2016-2017 season at no cost!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts lessons in accordance with established lesson plan and recognized ski instructor methods and techniques. When directed, develops instruction curriculum in accordance with recognized and established standards. Ensures lesson fees have been prepaid and records class attendance. Courteously greets park guests and ensures that questions are properly answered or referred. Helps maintain assigned facility or ski school by performing a variety of general cleaning and stocking of supplies and equipment.

Education and Experience
Minimum 16 years of age.
Other Skills and Abilities
Ability to cross country, classic, skate, alpine, or telemark ski or snowboard (specific skill/ability required is dependent upon type of instruction) at an intermediate level or higher.    Ability to successfully complete the Park District's Nordic training program or hiring clinic or comparable training program in ski instruction.  Ability to participate in and successfully complete ongoing training requirements in the art of ski and snowboard instruction.  Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete a variety of work tasks.  Ability to be diplomatic and pleasant under stressful conditions.  Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with park guests, organizations, and Park District employees.
Language Skills
Ability to read and understand documents such as instruction and procedure manuals, safety guidelines, and regulations.  Ability to write routine reports.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to recognize needs of participants and provide appropriate instruction and assistance.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written and verbal instructions.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to handle and manipulate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee frequently is required to ski and traverse snow or ice covered irregular surfaces, and stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Selection Procedure
A fully completed Three Rivers Park District Online Application must be received by Human Resources by the closing date and time listed on the job posting.  This position is open until filled. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of relevant experience and training. A top group of applicants will be invited to participate in further job screening. 
Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search. Costs of the background will be paid for by Three Rivers Park District.
