Position Summary Information Position Responsibilities

The Public Health Department invites applicants for a full time ranked faculty position beginning Fall Semester, 2017 (pending budget approval). Public Health is a strong and growing department. A successful candidate will be asked to teach in the undergraduate public health program, traditional in-person day program or in the online and hybrid adult college formats. The right candidate may also have the opportunity to teach in the Master of Public Health in Global Health program curriculum. Scholarship and service are requisites to faculty positions. Rank and salary commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities: Teaching load may include, but is not limited to teaching within the undergraduate day or adult college public health programs, course development and teaching in the graduate program, advising undergraduate or graduate public health students, participating in appropriate committees and campus service positions, guiding internship experiences, and conducting scholarship related activities. We are particularly interested in candidates who can teach the core courses of an undergraduate public health degree and an active or growing research area that will allow student participation. Multi-cultural, multi-lingual candidates, and candidates of color are strongly encouraged to apply. An inter-professional approach in concert with the other health programs and science disciplines to research, teaching, and education is strongly desired as is a willingness to engage in innovative curricular and pedagogical strategies, such as undergraduate collaborative research.

Position Qualifications

Requirements: Candidates are required to be in a doctoral program, ABD, but preference will be given to those who have completed a public health-oriented doctoral degree. Candidates are required to have evidence of 1-3 years of teaching, including course development, able to teach core public health courses and present with excellent oral and written skills. Candidates with additional teaching experience, especially in the hybrid/online format, active research agenda and experience working international and/or traditionally underserved (refugees, immigrants, low-income individuals, rural) populations preferred. Candidates should have active professional memberships, engagement in and dedication to conducting and publishing research, and presenting at local, regional, and national meetings. Multi-cultural and multi-lingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Master Degree in Public Health preferred.
