Ranked Faculty - International Language, Literatures and English
The Department of International Languages and Literature at St. Catherine University is affiliated with the English Department; together we seek a full-time, tenure-track, ranked faculty interested in teaching both Spanish language and literature and U.S. Latina literature in translation, beginning in fall 2017, pending budget approval. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in interdisciplinary teaching and creative curriculum and program development.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in Spanish or LatinX is required (by June 2017), as well as proven scholarly research in U.S. LatinX Studies and demonstrated native or near-native fluency in Spanish. At least two years of teaching Spanish language and LatinX or Latin-American literature in translation is required.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach upper division literature and culture as well as Spanish language for a total of three courses per semester. Opportunities to teach online, summer, weekends and evenings, and to lead international courses during J-term are also available. Other responsibilities may include contributions to the core curriculum and to the growth of our interdisciplinary programs (women's studies, language studies, and critical studies of race and ethnicity), demonstration of a transnational and global perspective, and proven ability to teach at the undergraduate level, advise students, and participate in faculty governance.
We seek an enthusiastic teacher and scholar to join a changing but vibrant international languages and literatures program and a collegial English department in an innovative College for Women that supports both scholars and artists who teach across disciplines. St. Catherine University seeks creative, adaptable faculty who enjoy working in a university climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding. Candidates of color are encouraged to apply as are those who will contribute to a diverse candidate pool. Consistent with the university's Catholic identity, its commitment to women, diversity and social justice, preference will be given to candidates who manifest these themes in their teaching, research and service.
